In May 2015 SPOT Festival launched a new SPOT+ area for the international and Danish industry. The over 1,500 SPOT+ delegates (about 350 of them international) immediately gave a positive reception of the new framework for meeting and the facilities at SAS Hotel Radisson Blu, as well as the many international networking arrangements, and the large conference programme.
Reactions on the SPOT+ area and programme:
Ingrid Huhn, City Slang, Germany
SPOT Festival is an excellent place for networking. I had the opportunity to meet a lot of international professionals. I met the international partners I am currently working with, as well as a lot of new contacts. Thank you SPOT.
Mareike Hettler / Grönland Records, Germany
Thanks SPOT for three splendid festival days. Amazing bands, perfect organisation – I met so many new and lovely people. Thank you. This will not be my last SPOT.
Mads Mikkelsen, Head of Communication & Marketing, Roskilde Festival
SPOT+ functions well because the dedicated area for seminars and networking makes it easier, as a participant, to release all of SPOTs potential. You were always able to set up meetings, but the dedicated area makes the coincidental introductions and meetings happen more frequently. This is an advantage. We met with a lot of international professionals who thought it was nice to have a fixed meeting point, as they are strangers to these parts.
Henning Dietz, Neu Management (amongst others The Asteroids Galaxy Tour), Germany
I attend a lot of music conferences like Eurosonic, Reeperbahn, and The Great Escape. So far, SPOT Festival is my favourite because it is small enough for one to be able to properly talk with people. The delegates are more laidback, approachable and easy to talk with, and the meetings I have had have been very constructive. From a business point of view it is a good way to meet people.
Rob Buckley, Pitch & Synch, UK
This was my first visit to SPOT and I have to emphasise that you cannot give enough praise to the energy and planning that has gone into making this festival a good and giving experience. The ‘Meet the Supervisors’ event was particularly well organised, time flew by, and all the music was of a very high quality. I look forward to participating again in the future.’
Tom Aldridge, Parlophone Records, UK
I would also like to praise the area for delegates, it is so easy to meet new people. This is my first time, and I have already met several indie professionals and Danish professionals. The networking opportunities are the best I have experienced. Friday I had four meetings within the distance of ten meters. In England we have to use a lot time getting back and forth, this is much more accessible at SPOT Festival.
Pascal Mayer, NOODLES (Supervision), Paris, France
Discovered a lot of new names, strong music, really good and professional networking – everything perfectly arranged and organised in a clear set-up. SPOT is truly a brilliant festival.
Mette-Ann Scheplern, film director / member of board Danish Film Directors
A great many thanks for a very successful SPOT Festival with a lot of interesting people at Scandinavian Centre and the surrounding area. I had a positive experience at the SPOT+ area where there was time and room for talking and a cup of coffee. I was met by a well organised and well curated debate forum where there in the future can be created even more connections between music and film.

Speed meetings with music supervisors is a fantastic opportunity for the Danish industry to meet some of the most important people from the synch world. Even if it is just ten minutes it can lead to long-term contact and can in short or long term mean concrete synchronisations. A personal meeting is worth more than 123 emails which the person already has enough of and typically will not reply to unless they know the sender or… have met the person in real life.
Sidse Gry Jeppesen, Manager/Early Modern Management
As a very concrete result of the meeting I had at “Meet the Music Supervisors” at last year’s SPOT I got the chance to place Linkoban in the movie “The Cobbler” featuring Adam Sandler amongst others, Gaining access to the important network of music supervisors during SPOT+, and looking forward, has been of great significance.
In the organizing team behind SPOT+ we are satisfied with the introduction of the new dedicated network and industry area.
We are quite pleased with the launch of the SPOT+ area. And it was clear that the initiative corresponded with a very high demand from the industry. We have had a lot of positive feedback from both Danish and foreign professionals. A dedicated area for networking simply makes it easier to meet all those whom you as an exporter of music should meet during the festival. MXD looks forward to developing the framework together with the other SPOT partners, says Thomas Rohde, CEO at MXD – Music Export Denmark.
When it comes to the SPOT+ conference part consisting of a range of programmes dealing with music as well as film and fashion, Jesper Mardahl, Promus, and SPOT+ project manager explains that:
Judging from the response we have received concerning both the academic content and the physical settings at SPOT+ from both our international and Danish industry guests it becomes evident that we have the upper hand. Thus, we have a fantastic starting point from which we can develop SPOT+ in order to expand SPOT’s position as the most important music industry event, here at home, with the objective to, in time, construct the same position with film, fashion, media, and interactive.
